Sitting Pretty in Roksanda Ilincic

Photo by Evan Vucci / AP Images

This must be the season for ultra-violet! Following a Doo-Ri gown of a similar hue, Mrs. O wore a Roksanda Ilincic Pre-Fall 2011 dress today for a speaking engagement focused on mentoring at Georgetown University. The dress was last seen during a visit to London in May 2011, here

Violet is my favorite color. I love how it warms up Mrs. O's skintone. Also, I am loving the minimalist look as well. She is letting her vivacious personality and the vivid color speak loud and clear without interruption from too much bling and unnecessary accessories.

The color on her is striking. She is beautiful. Her smile lights up a room.

Yes Joan. I agree with you EVERY step of the way!!! Our FLMichelle is as striking as this gorgous couleur she is wearing. She is Soooooo Natural, so Humble. That's what this Lady is about!!! Her Natural Nature, Her Humbleness, Her Down to Earthness...Now those are qualities that you Can't find at a department store Cosmetic Counter!! Love Ya FLOTUS

She looks pretty and this is such a great dress. I have sth like this from Jones New York that is almost identical in same color. Same neckline and everything. My husband got it for me on a business trip. I think I liked the other belt better. I could see why she went with a more structured belt though. In the other outfit, the coat was also a focal piece. This outfit doesnt have the coat so I guess she needed a stronger belt.

This is a lovely dress. What is the trim on the hem, cowl neck and the edges of the arms? I love it!

I love that dress. Mrs. O looks great in it. I loved it since the London visit (w/the coat); I didn't really notice/pay attention to the hem.
The huffington post has several pics of her in purple: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/09/michelle-obama-georgetown-purple-dress_n_1083556.html?ref=style

Absolutely luscious. ...Never before and, likely, not within a generation (at least), will we have an American First Lady with all the bonafides that Michelle Obama possesses.

I think I like this dress even more than I did the first tiime that she wore it. The simple lines and added bonus of the lace trim with th ecowl neckline gives it an added punch.
Great look on our Michelle!

Our First Lady never ceases to knock me out and take my breath away. She is just stunning here...the color, the cut, the hair, the belt, the shoes....knocks it out of the park. Lucky Georgetown students!

aww this gown looks just as lovely here. i almost didn't recognize it from London though. take that back, i actually got it confused with another dress of hers with a very similar color, but the other one is cut more like a shift dress. i noticed she paired this one with a black belt this time instead, which she also did with the shift dress of similar color. still gorgeous as ever on her. love the cowl neck (is that what it's called?).

Love the color, hair and overall glow, but not crazy about sleeveless dresses in the fall/winter.

Gorgeous!

Big Hit! Love the color, length, neckline, and belt and shoes. I also love how she makes this look like a TOTALLY different outfit than when she wore this in London. The coat, belt and shoes back then made it seem like a different, but equally stunning, look. I like her hair in both instances. I'm not the biggest fan of her hair when she pulls it all back, but I like it here as well as when it's the sleek, shiny "modern" bob!

@ shubbard

Just thinking out loud. Women who work out have higher metabolism rates and are warmer than women who sit around. Women under the lights of the camera also take a lot of heat. Both of those are reasons why someone might choose a sleeveless dress for comfort in late fall and coming into winter. Especially indoors where the heat is on. Also, at the tail end of her 40s MO might be "warmer than usual" sometimes. Whatever.

All that said, she rocks this dress. Naw--it rocks her!

I know this is a late posting, please bear with me. I must say this, she looks so very pretty.

I like designer Roksanda Ilincic’s style.

Peace.
