Neon Brights

The First Lady appeared at a Let's Move event in Inglewood, California today to celebrate the future site of a Northgate Gonzalez Market. On the style front, Mrs. O layered neon brights, channeling another key color trend of the season!

"First Lady Speaks at Northgate Gonzalez Site" [Supermarket News]

Update #1: While the first lady's coat takes on a neon quality in the photo above, it's a true orange in others. Some have noted its similarity to the Ann Taylor Promenade Coat in Salsa Picante. What do you think? One thing we can say for sure: Paired with her top and trench, Mrs. O wears Michael Kors sapphire double face stretch wool crepe pants from the designer's Fall 2010 collection.

Update #2: Good eye ladies! Ann Taylor has confirmed via Twitter that the First Lady wears the Promenade Coat. This is the first time per my records that Mrs. O has worn Ann Taylor.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. One of my favorite looks to date- it's casual yet business formal; the colors are fun; the necklace is nice; and her hair is long once again (my favorite style)!!!

Love the orange blazer and the yellow top with the navy pants. She looses me with the green shoes. But she can pull it off. Is that a Fenton necklace? Love it with that outfit. The blazar looks longer in length than we normally see from Mrs. O. Would love to see this outfit while she is standing up. As always she looks beautiful.

Very nice, and Michelle pulls it off very well. Is that a Trench?

She is a beautiful as a bouquet of flowers! I love it all.

Funny, I could never pull off these colors together, but Mrs. O makes it look doable. I'm not mad at it.

Yes, Dale, It is a trench. You can see a full length pic here:

I Just purchase that trench coat at Ann Taylor's about a week ago. I love bright colors and the orange looks great on Mrs. O.

Please Mrs. T if this family is not re-elected (God forbid) please keep this site up! I love to come here and just look at all the beautiful clothing Mrs. O has worn!
Thank you

I don't like the cut of the jacket for her frame, but she still looks wonderful!!! Also...I agree with Bayo!!! However, I believe they are in it again for another term:-)

I was always taught to never wear more than three colors at once, so this is sensory overload for me. I don't care for all of the bright, disconnected colors, but Mrs. O. herself looks so good and so healthy. Loved seeing Mrs. O. on the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno. It was so funny to see the look on her face when she tried to eat beets. I know what she means.

Bleu sky, bleue navy, yellow and peach!
I would not wear that for heaven sake

@ Emmebelle - You took the words out of my mouth and what a delight to wear such bright warming colours in the middle of winter. I'm loving this look.

@Bayo Omole - I couldn't agree more. Whether the President gets re elected or not, eventually one day his presidency will come to an end and I honestly don't want this to be the end of my relationship (!!!!) with his wife. I know it's selfish but although I don't know her and have never met her, I feel like she has been a friend and an inspiration.

Very 1980!s!

Agree with Bayo and Jestina...please Mrs. T, keep the site going no matter what. Even after the Presidency, I KNOW this woman will continue to be an advocate and a force. I am actually excited to see what the Obamas do post Presidency. I foresee something like a combo of Carter and Clinton....they will do a lot of good with their considerable influence throughout the world. Like Clinton, Obama is extremely popular in the world. But may that post Presidency please come in 2016!

Michelle is definitely a fashion icon. I love the way she confidently mixes colors and textures! She is simply lovely. Loved her on Jay Leno!

I love her beating Ellen Degeneres with 25 push-ups. http://www.zie.nl/video/achterklap/Michelle-Obama-doet-push-ups-in-talkshow/m1fz5swfli9e She really looks great!

While I absolutely loved the Tonight Show look, I hate this look. Its dated (Claire Huxtable, Circa 1989). There is too much going on with nothing to tie it together. Plus, IMO the jacket is just not fitting right (search for pic of her standing). Its too big. The Tonight Show look was fresh and modern and very Mrs. O.

The colors in the outfit make me think of fruits and vegetables! Love it!

I am so in this outfit. I have all the pieces and never in a million years would I have thought to put them together! ... wearing this look to work TOMORROW!..... Have to agree with the prior posters: please keep this site up forever. We love Michelle (and each other).

Not my favorite.Maybe w/ black shoes, but even then, I'm not sure the cut of the jacket is the best for her frame. Oh well. Everyone has a bad day once in while.

I typically love what she wears and constantly impressed at how 'appropriately dressed' she is for every occasion. Easy to take for granted, but a true talent.

'80s flashback, but Mrs. O wears it well!

I love this look! It is appropriate to the outdoor venue - coat not blazer - it is intended to draw attention to her as the featured speaker and does so very successfully - and it incorporates many of the new trends for spring without being over the top.

I will say this one isn't one of my favorites. For my taste it's just a bit too much of everything and the 80s cut of the jacket + all the colors looks a little toooo....80s. But, it could be worse. She could look like Newt's frozen fake barbie wife ;-)

I never would have thought that these colors would look great together. I love her style.

I agree with Third Lady...the only thing missing from this outfit are the shoulder pads! The style of the blazer is lovely but not with the combination of the sapphire pants and yellow top. And why no mention of her shoes in your description? The heels are a nice change from her usual selection of flats, but the color...ummm...don't think so! :~(

@ Christen,

Who told you you could only wear three colors at once? Is it the same people who said you shouldn't wear white after Labor Day? People, it's time to liberate yourselves fashionwise and caste off the shackles that are preventing you from enjoying yourselves and experimenting with fashion. The First Lady certainly does, to magnificent effect. You shouldn't have to wait until some designer somewhere tells you it's o.k. to wear different color combinations before you would "dare" do such a thing. My take is that fashion should be fun, and should be open to experimentation, afterwall, you are dressing for yourself and no one else. Or are you?
