Kids' Choice 2012

The First Lady, joined by her daughters Malia and Sasha, appeared at the Kids' Choice Awards in Los Angeles, CA last night. Mrs. O was on hand to present Nickelodeon's Big Help Award to Taylor Swift in honor of her philanthropic endeavors. On the style front, the First Lady wore a sparkly houndstooth patterned tunic, paired with slim metallic pants. Signature kitten heels in black patent leather completed the look.

Update #1: Mrs. O wears Wes Gordon above, adding a new young American designer to her style repertoire!

Update #2: Per US Weekly, Mrs. O wears Helmut Lang foil wash jeans. Both Obama girls wear ASOS.

The song "I'm Every Woman!" certainly applies to our First Lady. She exudes personality in everything she does. God bless our President and First Lady! Obama 2012!

Interesting tunic. A change, it seems--as far as Mrs. Obama's casual attire is concerned. I like it though. Metallic, sparklish. Not sure what to make of the pants, though, since I've never seen (or noticed) the first lady in any pants as form-fitting as these. They make take a minute for me to get used to. Still, something in me loves that fact that she CAN wear this look! That she can be so elegant AND so South Side Chicago Girl Fine! ...Day-ummn! Mrs. First Lady Obama, you're slaying us with all your style. Keep it coming.

When I saw her on television last night in this outfit I thought that's my favorite look of hers E V E R ! Beautiful fit, beyond stylish, flattering, appropriate. It was a sweet event. Taylor Swift was in awe of her and so respectful. Two ladies to admire - Michelle and Taylor.

Wow - what a nice choice for this event. Youthful yet sophisticated. Perfect for a young First Lady traveling to an entertainment industry event with her daughters. Kudos to Mrs. O on this one. Does anybody have info on the designer or store?

Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 3:31 PM | Registered CommenterCrissieP

I am not sure about this one. Looks too edgy for a first lady in my opinion.

DITTO Winnie and Crystal! Beautiful three. Taylor looks great too.

Tunic is Wes Gordon

Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 6:20 PM | Unregistered CommenterJane

She looks FANTASTIC! All three of them are glowing and Mrs. O pulls this outfit off without a hitch. Not too many women close to 50 can pull this outfit off, and she does. The outfit is gorgeous and is so appropriate for the occaision. Once again, we are so lucky to have such a fabulous First Lady (and Family).

Mrs. O sparkles! She looks so youthful in this outfit.

The tunic is by Wes Gordon Spring 2012.

Mrs. O is one sexy mother.....SHUT YO MOUTH!!! On the real, with all due respect, she is uber sexy in this outfit and what makes it so great is that she is completely covered up. She just exudes sex appeal and I think it comes from her confidence. She is confident that she is beautiful and smart. Confident that she is doing a great job as First Lady. Confident that she is raising two beautiful, smart, and compassionate young ladies. And confident that she is totally and undeniably loved by the man that she loves. I think she is confident in the woman that she is. I want to be like her when I grow up and no, I don't mean being able to wear that outfit, because that's not going to happen, LOL! I want to be a confident woman. And I'm not naive to think that she never has doubts and worries, but in the end, I have a feeling that she's satisfied with the decisions she makes.

I watched the KCA and it looked like the girls and Mrs. O had lots of fun. Mrs. O got a little slime on her at the end, but she just kept right on dancing. I also LOL'd when Mrs. O was squinting at the teleprompter. I was like she either needs some glasses or they need to make the font bigger. Taylor seemed very honored to receive her award from the First Lady.

This is so very flattering and perfect for her at this event.

God Bless the First Lady Mrs Obama, she is a very down to earth lady. This title dont make her a fool.. Love the outfit and her daughters are beautiful. Mrs T thanks very much for having this site

I think Mrs. O's outfit is FABULOUS!!! Perfect for the occasion. She's modern, she's a mom and she's HOT!! (She's does wear glasses occasionally, so maybe a new prescription for contacts lenses is in order)

Mrs. T, just checking to ask if everything is okay. You are usually so on point with the fashions of Mrs. O. A few days went past with Mrs. O wearing great looks. I hope that all is well with you!

Yowza! Very much on point with this hip outfit. The first lady keeps given us the best that she's got!
The girls look beautiful as well.

Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 10:07 PM | Unregistered CommenterAdear

This is a turnabout. Somehow Taylor looks older and Michelle looks younger. Taylor's dress has a retro look that make her look more mature and Michelle's outfit is edgy and makes her look youthful. Wow!

Anyone know whose jacket Sasha has on? Designer, collection etc...

Monday, April 2, 2012 at 2:25 AM | Unregistered CommenterRockit

There you go, young ladies. You can go out in the evening to a music event and STILL look classy and elegant. I love the whole entire look.

Wow, this is fabulous! So elegant and fun!

Monday, April 2, 2012 at 8:43 AM | Unregistered CommenterSandy H

One of the legacies Mrs. Obama will leave is to forever squash the notion that there is a certain First Lady "look" that must be observed. She breaks the current "rules" with elegance and has freed those that fill her position in the future from the burden of following them. Well done!

Monday, April 2, 2012 at 8:51 AM | Unregistered CommenterKywstgal

got to disagree...I think this is too far out for a FLOTUS...and i personally think she borders on looking silly

Monday, April 2, 2012 at 10:33 AM | Unregistered CommenterANN50

in my opinion...not so well done...I think she borders on looking silly

Monday, April 2, 2012 at 10:51 AM | Unregistered CommenterANN50

well said @Kywstgal !!

One of my favorite looks on Mrs. O! You can tell that she just loves fashion and loves having fun with it. The girls look so pretty also!

I usually love most everything the First Lady wears but I'm not crazy about this one. I like the tunic a lot but I don't like the pants.

Monday, April 2, 2012 at 1:13 PM | Unregistered CommenterMary

ROCK STAR

Just the right amount of edge married with some chic for an entertainment/ music awards show. I love these metallic grey skinny pants on Mrs.O, I mean who would have thought... I can't believe how CRAZY, SEXY, COOL she looks! Wish some more "Moms" would take a page out of her book.

Cheers

I looked at the Wes Gordon collection. WOW! I bet we see the First Lady in another of his creations before long. I'll be watching. Beautiful, beautiful designs!

Hmmm ... no pictures of her being slimed? *lol* She's a great sport.

Monday, April 2, 2012 at 7:33 PM | Unregistered Commenterglammie

I think this may be in my Top 10 of Michelle Obama looks. She looks so chic and sexy in this, and COMPLETELY blasts away the old, tired models for how a First Lady is "supposed" to dress. Such an inspiration. I seriously think I will go insane if her husband does not win the upcoming election. FOUR MORE YEARS OF MICHELLE OBAMA!!!!

ITA @ Kywstgal

This outfit epitomizes what I love about Mrs. O. She is so stylish, so comfortable in her own skin, and so sexy. I agree that no first lady should feel the need to "look" a certain way for here on out. She has shown that a woman can be HERSELF while still being FLOTUS.

Monday, April 2, 2012 at 10:05 PM | Registered CommenterIVA

Perfect outfit for the occasion. And, Sasha and Malia lok great, too; And, I love the smiles. This is a great picture of all 3 of them.

Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 12:40 AM | Unregistered CommenterSharon

really, really, REALLY love the hair. that length and "loose" is so youthful. also? are her eyebrows looking a little more-natural/less-pencil-y? looks good!

Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 3:46 AM | Unregistered Commenterchimene

Mrs. O.'s top is beautiful. Those skin-tight, metallic, Steven Tyler-style pants? Hardly. Some well-tailored black evening pants would have looked much more appropriate. Mrs. O. is not a celebrity, she is our First Lady.

Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 5:43 AM | Unregistered CommenterChristen

That is one hot Mama!

This over-sized houndstooth is off the chain! Once again, our Michelle is exposing us to a designer that is not too well known. I'd never heard of Wes Gordon before but I looked him up on style.com. I was impressed with his designs and hopefully we'll be seeing and hearing a lot more from him.
Those girls are too darling for words!
