This Week in Mrs. O

September 12: The First Lady, joined by actress Eva Longoria, visited Watertown High School in Watertown, Wisconsin as part of the Drink Up initiative to encourage people to drink more water. For the event, Mrs. O wore a blue tie-dye Jasmyn dress from Tory Burch, previously available here and here. From the Tory Burch website: "the jacquard-based fabric is hand-dyed by women artisans from the Kindia region of Guinea (in collaboration with the There Is No Limit Foundation) using century-old techniques that make each style truly one-of-a-kind."

September 11: The President and First Lady were joined by Vice President and Dr. Biden for a moment of silence on the South Lawn of the White House on the 12th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

For the appearance, Mrs. O wore a purple sheath dress that recalls the classic, clean lines of Maria Pinto's aesthestic. The designer is unconfirmed, but vintage Maria Pinto would be my guess! The First Lady wore a similar dress for her recent interview in Parade magazine, here.

Later on Wednesday, Mrs. O visited the USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir, VA. For the visit, Mrs. O wore a Jason Wu custom teal linen and silk double bow sheath dress, first seen in July 2009, here.

Have a splendid weekend!

I love the indigo tie dye dress and I'm dying to know who it's by--

I love that she picked the deep purple dress instead of the predictable black everyone else was doing -- 12 years later, the deep purple was so spot on and so chockfull of meaning -- She wore no accessories -- just gorgeous hair, beautiful skin and a pair of her favorite black (patent?) kitten heels -- perfection!

She looked fantastic in the Jason Wu repeat -- even more perfect while in motion honestly, as evidenced by the video footage I saw of a behind the scenes tour Mrs Obama made of the USO Warrior care center and rehab facilities at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence-

The National Intrepid Center of Excellence provides outpatient care to service members and veterans with traumatic brain injuries, post-traumatic stress disorder and related conditions. I applaud the great dedication and care of the many wonderful medical and other support personnel who do all this great and important work on behalf of our wounded veterans and their families---

I think the tie-dye dress is a Tory Burch piece.

The 'tie-dye' dress is from Tory Burch and has already sold out per the Huffington Post.

The link to the Tory Burch dress http://www.toryburch.com/JASMYN-DRESS/13131473,default,pd.html gives another link to the There is No Limit Foundation. Very moving to know that the dress was tie-dyed by women artisans in Guinea and benefits a foundation that is doing a lot of good. So like our FLOTUS to encourage this effort!

Obama Diary has photos of Mrs. O at a meeting about food marketing at the White House. It's definitely a new dress with some great inverted pleating at the neck. Hope you can do your magic and tell us about it, Mrs. T.

Mrs. O and the President looked marvelous at the CBC Phoenix gala Saturday night.

@SoccerNana: I just looked up the CBC Phoenix gala and wow! Oh my goodness---
How absolutely stunning Mrs Obama looks in that gorgeous gown-- Simple in its execution but complete perfection -- On closer inspection, it appears to be some sort of intricate loom-woven fabric with some shiny threads interspersed throughout -- It looks white and black, but I think the black areas are actually openings in the weave pattern -- gorgeous! I love that with her, there's always this emphasis on fabric - interesting, quality fabrics and not just cut and style --
Very beautiful and in true Mrs Obama fashion, a very clean look with minimal accessories --
Her engagement/wedding/eternity ring trio; The most important and most meaningful of all --
Long drop earrings - looks sort of oxidized which gives it a muted, understated feel--

A studded belt with a surprising sweet tie back drop ribbon we've seen quite a bit lately in rotation -- She's worn this belt before with simple day dresses and now dresses it up in an evening gown --
Another incredible testament to Mrs Obama's natural, effortless, unassuming but wonderful, fun and practical style;
Just like with her clothes, Mrs Obama really loves the accessories she owns and constantly re-uses and re-invents them in the most unexpected and appealing ways--
