Pinto Reprise

Official White House Photo by Samantha Appleton

The President and First Lady Mrs. O met with the Crown Prince and Princess of the Netherlands in the Yellow Oval Room of the White House last Friday. Mrs. O wore the same Maria Pinto sheath dress first worn in November 2008 when the Os visited the White House following the election.

A close-up of the photo reveals that Mrs. O added a floral brooch at the collar and paired the dress with metallic heels the second time around.

Summer Seersucker (Updated)

Photo by Win McNamee / Getty Images

The Os returned home yesterday after a weekend spent in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and Arizona. Mrs. O looks ready for Martha's Vineyard in her seersucker summer dress. We love!

UPDATE: Wonderful news! Thanks to a tip from "aw", we have confirmed that yes, in fact, Mrs. O is wearing Maria Pinto's Eula Stripe Maggie dress! We are delighted to see Maria Pinto back in the first lady's wardrobe rotation. The cut and fit of a Maria Pinto dress is always flawless.

An Encore Perhaps?

By request, we thought we'd revisit two popular ensembles that Mrs-O.org readers would like to see the First Lady wear again. The first, a Maria Pinto coral-red silk crepe sheath dress worn by Mrs. O to the White House a few days following the election. The dress features three-quarter sleeves, an empire waist and a high neckline with a burst of sunray pleats emanating from the collar. Photo courtesy of the White House/ Chris Greenberg The second ensemble is a striking black and camel skirt and coat combination designed by Narciso Rodriguez, which Mrs. O wore for the "We Are One" celebration at the Lincoln Memorial during the Inauguration. At the time Booth Moore, Fashion Critic for the L.A. Times, described the look as "strong, elegant, and above all, modern." We Are OneImage via Flickr user Presidential Inaugural Committee / Creative Commons Let's discuss. What other looks or accessories would you like to see make a second appearance? (Personally, we would love to see one of those fanastic feathery pins by Carolyn Rosenberg resurface soon.)

Secrets of Mrs. O's Style

Excerpt used with kind permission from More Magazine O isn't the only magazine that scored a high profile interview this month. The April issue of More magazine will include a feature on Mrs. O's longtime Chicago-based designer Maria Pinto. More has been kind enough to share a sneak peek, above. From the issue:

"I started working with Michelle when Barack was running for the Senate," Pinto says.  "She was referred to me by another client."

Pinto says Obama "is very down to earth" and also "knows what works." She’s a perfect fashion role model, Pinto says, because "She’s an example of the life we’re all living.  She goes high-low, mixing J.Crew with designer. I think we can all relate to that."

The April issue of More hits newsstands March 24.
