Sunny Day Sweepin' the Clouds Away

Photo by Richard Termine; (c) 2009 Sesame Workshop. All Rights Reserved.

Admittedly we're a little late on this, but it's just too cute not to feature. As many of you know by now, Mrs. O visited the set of Sesame Street to tape a segment on healthy eating during her trip to New York on Tuesday.

Mrs. O described the appearance as  "probably the best thing I've done so far" since being at White House. She continued, telling the U.N. audience:

"I'm thrilled to be here but I was just at Sesame Street I'm sorry. And I never thought I'd be on Sesame Street with Elmo and Big Bird, and I was thrilled. I'm still thrilled. I'm on a high."

On a style note, Mrs. O wears a Hanii Y cardigan, the same she wore on the cover of Essence. The video below includes clips of Mrs. O's appearance.

absolutely adorable, a perfect outfit for hanging out on sesame street; i definitely prefer it to the suits that previous first ladies have worn while appearing on the show.

@ moja31,

I don't have kids and haven't watched S. Street since I was little, but I can't believe other first ladies wore suits on this show and nothing casual--wow.

Anyway, this was too cute and Michelle looked cheery and bright--just right to get kids' attention.

A beauty as usual...and I love what she says about being your child's best role model...too many people want to blame others for their problems....look inside yourself and your kids will follow....

I agree - great PSA! You can see how delighted Michelle is to be talking to Elmo. What a nice way for Mrs. O to spend a morning.

Mrs. O + Elmo, you can't help but smile.

I'm growing cabbages this year.

They talk back at me all the time.

They say "Why are you growing us when you don't like to eat us?" and I say "Because you were 20p on the reject counter and I can't pass up a bargain, even at the garden centre".

Very cute segment, thank you Mrs T.

Sesame Street was always one of my favorite shows as a child, and I plan on encouraging my little nephew to embrace it, as well. The fact that the First Lady was on an episode = marvelous! :)

I really like this cardigan set.

I'm glad to see Mrs. O bringing cardigans back. I have quite a few in my closet and will be pulling them out come Fall.

To think that I watched Sesame Street as a child and now seeing it evolve to this, is fantastic! Really, how many First Ladies have gone to such lengths to connect with the people - not many...This video is great!Elmo can get on your last nerve, but Elmo and Mrs. Obama now there's a team!

Our FLOTUS has such a high social IQ, the ability to relate to all age group...races and backgrounds. SS is one of my fav. childhood show. She looked casual and very summary.
