Pretty in Polka Dot

The president and first lady hosted a reception in honor of Jewish American Heritage Month in the East Room of the White House last evening. For the occasion, Mrs. O rewore a polka dot dress from Lanvin's 2009 Resort collection, last seen a little over a year ago, here.

Navy and polka dots is such a classic combination. Do any of you posting fashionistas know the history of the navy blue polka dot look? Was it a French designer who first put this combination together?

After all this time it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that that "person" should make such a comment, after all, even though it's such a minor detail, she couldn't resist making an off-handed one. She certainly doesn't belong to school of thought that follows the adage "if you can't find something positive to say, don't say anything at all". But then again that goes contrary to what this "person" has demonstrated so far. It was a thought though. In her case, hope still springs eternal!
Yes, Wanda, that is a bra strap. Apparently, Mrs. O wears bras! *gasp* Oh my, and the strap is showing!!! *gasp gasp* Wanda, you must be a really miserable and insecure person to feel the need to point out any little thing you deem as a flaw. I sure wish we could see what YOU look like! Egads, I said I would not engage anyone on this site for the comments they make but you are so ridiculously ridiculous that I couldn't help myslef. As others have so often said, I really wish you would just go somewhere else with your silliness or I wish Mrs. T would block you. You make this site unpleasant. The exact opposite effect I think Mrs. T wants.
As for Mrs. O, I think she looks quite lovely -- as always! It looks like she and POTUS and VPOTUS were having a fun time. Good for them!
PS. Wanda, if you keep up with the nonsense even I'll start referring to the First Lady as Dr. O!

@ JMH, I agree those bookends are rather sharp. Our Michelle looks so pleasant in these polka dots. I'm a polka dot fanatic and navy blue/white is so crisp and timeless. I was surprised when we first saw that this was by Lanvin because Alber Elbez usually prefers solid colors. This dress came down the runway as a formal, but looks just as good here in a knee length style. She looks radiant. I saw some photos on Yahoo & Getty that showed more of the audience. Did anyone notice how beautiful Ruth Bader Ginsburg's skin is? She looks really well.

I guessmy other post didn't make the cut so I'll retry: lovely dress worn by a sophisticated woman. I'd love to meet the person who has never had a bra strap peek out from under one's clothes. I love love love polka dots!

Some of you really have a hair trigger and seemingly can't wait to jump my case. I should have been more explicit with my comment, because my intent was to start a discussion of the color of under garments that should be worn with various colors of clothing. It seems that a black strap would have hardly been noticed against the dark fabric of the dress. Similarly one wouldn't wear a black slip under a light color garment. My comment was on a observation of the obvious.

What is obvious is you take pleasure in instigating strife among the members of this community. Then, you cowardly invent disclaimers and rationalizations to justify your provocative behavior.
Any person with half a brain would have explained her/his comment in the full context in which you claim to have framed your remark. Too late, too slow.
I hope Mrs. T blocks you. So far, the only things you have contributed to this site, IMO, are smarminess, sarcastic remarks, and sleaze.

Mrs. O looks radiant...and as lovely as she looks wearing this dress, I cannot give the dress the credit. I'ts just her...she glows. You can see her happiness and delight in her smile and in her eyes. This lady is just a delight to watch and enjoy doing so.
On another note: Genuine Posters, responding to negative posts merely gives that poster's comments too much attention! Remember when former VP Cheney was always making negative statements about the President and the press kept feeding off his remarks. The more attention he got, the more he had to say. We barely hear from him now. I'm sure he's still flapping his gums, but no one seems to be interested. Perhaps that is how we should deal with negative posters...the less said the better. Mrs. T, thank you. it does look like the cascading paillettes are part of the ensemble. I love this dress custom hemmed to a shorter length! This got me thinking: there are several prom/formal dresses hanging in my daughter's closet that could be tailored to cocktail length so they would get more use out of them!
What a handsome trio! Mrs. O looks fabulous, bra strap and all! Love our leaders! And, Ladies please can we lighten up. I have to deal with cat fights at work! Let's all try to be more civil. Yes, we can!
