Mrs. O was out and about in the southern Spanish town of Granada today, wearing a brightly-colored floral top, belted at the waist and paired with cropped black leggings and Maison Martin Margiela sandals.

Mrs. O looks great. Perfect sightseeing outfit. However, I must admit that my favorite thing in the picture is Sasha's floral bracelet. Very cute.

Not really feeling this top. I am not one for patterns, especially brightly hued patterns. Love everything else tho. Little Sasha looks just the way a little girl should look (cough**pay attention Jada and Will**cough)

The belt WORKS with this outfit. Mrs. O is going to have me buying cropped leggings to wear for the remainder of the summer now! I have many long tops like hers, and usually wear them with long leggings or pencil jeans, but now I have another type of bottom to choose from.

And I agree, the best part of this picture is little Sasha's bracelet. She looks pleased as punch to be with mom in Spain for a vacation.

Everything about this look works for me. I love the length of the top over the leggings. It's a perfect vacation look.

Another beautiful summery outfit and the belt pulls it together nicely. She looks happy and simply sensational. I also love little Sasha's outfit and her pearl bracelet (channelling Mummy !!) is too cute.

Yep, Sasha is ADORABLE!!! Her bracelet is the cutest.

I have a question that I have wanted to know for a long time. Does anyone know why they call Sasha Sasha instead of NaTasha? I have wondered how they came up with that name.

Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 4:46 PM | Registered CommenterNyon

I love the bracelets and the sandals Mrs. O is wearing! And, Sasha is so cute and appears so confident and comfortable as she is growing up.

I think it is just like Williams-Bill and not Will

She is receiving coverage all over Europe. She really is a powerful woman.

@ Nyon: prolly toddler Malia couldn't say Natasha .... shortened it to Sasha and it stuck.

I know several people who go by names that are not the names they were christened with. One of my best friends from childhood has always been called Mia simply because her older sister, who was a toddler when she was born, could not pronounce Rosemary.

Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 5:49 PM | Unregistered Commenterglammie

I wish she'd stick w/ skirts--like that great one we saw her wearing at McNair...these leggings, particularly in black in the summer, really don't work for me.

Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 5:52 PM | Unregistered Commenterann50

....or she could re-run that great Tracy Reese black/grey/white dotted print dress we saw her in a week or two ago...and, once again, lose the belts!

Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 6:00 PM | Unregistered Commenterann50

This is one belt I actually like with the outfit. The whole look is very modern and the top seems to have an African pattern.

I like the whole look!

I love this look for Mrs. O -- very summery, relaxed and stylish. Bring on the bright patterns. And, to echo other comments, Sasha looks as happy as can be! Must make her mom very happy to be able to share this special time with her.

I love the top, and it would be really cute as a dress.

sascha is a derivitive of Natasha, usually see it more in Russia. Sasha Cohen the skater, her name is also Natasha i believe, she is of Russian ancestry. Intereting in Russia, Sasha is also a derivitive of Alexander.

She has done it again Mrs.Obama knocks the ball out of the park yet again. Little Sasha looks adorable.

Seems like those tights would be a tad too tight and too hot for Spanish climate in August. Outfit would work better without the tight belt and garish pattern.

Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 9:54 PM | Unregistered CommenterEdie

Tracy - i too agree that the top looks very African. Especially with the way it is patterned at the hem, it looks like it was cut from a Kanga (i.e., large scarf-like wrap with a border and usually a saying in Swahili). I wonder if it is SUNO?

Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 10:44 PM | Unregistered Commentermiss t

I really like belts, so it comes as no surprise that I am crazy about this one. I think it actually compliments the floral print of her top. The black leggings and sandals just pulls it together. She is rocking the multiple beaded bracelets like nobody's business. This is a fun and flirty summertime look. And don't get me started about our little Sasha! She's such an angel and a mini fashionista. I like how our Michelle makes sure that her girls always look like little girls. They are stylish and age appropiate at all times. I commend them for that!

She and Sasha look lovely. Man, I wish I was on an exotic vacation right now *sigh*. Anyways, that belt is exquisite and I'm pretty sure its Alaia. You can see it HERE at net-a-porter.com in brown.

I like her look today. Did not like the one shoulder shirt on yesterday. Sasha is cute, and adorable . As for Will and Jada, they dont get it.

Here are some cute pictures of Sasha dancing, and truly enjoying herself on the beach today.

@SilverPearls: I agree with you re: Jada and Will and Willow. Don't know what's going on there.

@Mia Monte: I have mixed feelings about those pictures you posted. On the one hand, Sasha is adorable and those shots of her dancing in the white skirt have made my ovaries explode. But on the other hand, it feels a bit like an invasion, doesn't it? I guess I can't blame photographers for providing what people like us clearly like -- to see the family in an unguarded moments. But on the other hand, I want her to do her little kid stuff in privacy.

I guess what I really want is for the paparazzi to take pictures but give them only to me. :-)

But anyway, this top is cute to me; I like bright colors. Could it be Tracy Feith? I don't like it as much as the black and white top, but that's just my own taste, not for any "fashion" reason.

Friday, August 6, 2010 at 12:29 PM | Registered CommenterChristina

Thanks ladies for explaining it to me. I didn't know Sasha was the nickname for NaTasha. I would have just called her Tasha, LOL!!

Christina, I'm tripping off your ovaries "exploding", WOW!! And I feel what you're saying, but I so love the pictures, so let the pics just come to you and me! ;-) There is a pic of her on yahoo in the water looking like she's praying and I just thought it was the cutest pic ever.

Friday, August 6, 2010 at 12:59 PM | Registered CommenterNyon

@Silver Pearls - definitely agree with you about the Smiths and their daughter. I think in later years, we will see her in the tabloids out of control.

My sister's name is Natasha, and we call her Tasha. I love the way Sasha seems to be strutting in this picture. Love Mrs. O's top - very ethnic and chic.

Friday, August 6, 2010 at 1:10 PM | Unregistered CommenterThe Cincinnati Kid

It's so good to see little Sasha having a wonderful time. She looks like she's practicing the flamenco she saw yesterday. LOL. She looks adorable. I hope she and her mom are shielded from the hate and vitriol that's being played by the RW hate machine here back home.

Have a wonderful vacation. You deserve it. And congratulations on the passage of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. The bill provides an additional $4.5 billion over 10 years to federal child nutrition programs including school lunch.

Friday, August 6, 2010 at 1:35 PM | Registered Commentermarabout40

Nyon - just a little more explaining on the name. My name is Fellica pronounced Fe leesha, but my family calls me Lisa and I've been trying to get an explanation for over 40 years and I have yet to receive one. So I gave up. :)))

I love the love Smith Family as well, but I think young girls can look very fashionable without looking to grown up. I"m with letting kids express themselves, but my goodness what is there to look forward to when it's too much too soon.

Love, love the photos of Sasha as well, but I agree they pretty much crossed the privacy boundaries.

@Mia Monte,

Thanks! I appreciate the heads-up.

(I responded to you earlier and my post seems to have disappeared, so my apologies if it shows up twice.)

Another thing I like about this outfit, is that it's the kind of thing you can wear on a Saturday afternoon stroll downtown and you can wear it out to dinner at night as well. A perfect look for vacation when you're out all day and don't have time to get back to the hotel to change for dinner.

Friday, August 6, 2010 at 3:46 PM | Unregistered CommenterTracy

Every other picture I see of Sasha seems to catch her in mid-hop, and I and wonder -- at what age did I stop skipping and running and jumping to get from place to place? It makes me a little bit sad. She's such a cute, happy kid. I want to skip too! But if I did that, I'd probably fall down and break an ankle.

Friday, August 6, 2010 at 3:54 PM | Registered CommenterChristina

In the words of my overly dramatic friend, with a deep southern drawl... That's so fye (fire)!!!
I love the outfit... so cute! I absolutely love colors. I love leggings because they're so comfy. I bought the mock denim leggings in every color. The off the shoulder outfit was hot too!
The paparrazi is going crazy over there! One of my friends showed me video of them on the beach and it was definitely an invasion of privacy. So many people were watching , from a distance, as they were swimming. I love to see pictures/videos of the 1st family, but I don't like when it gets to intrusive. At least let them swim in peace.

Friday, August 6, 2010 at 4:21 PM | Registered CommenterDoc Sue

@ Christina - you are so right - when did we stop skipping? She appears so happy and oblivious to the negativity out there in the world. It's nice to see since everyone is so down in the dumps these days.

When is the trip to see the King and Queen.

Ole! On Mrs. Obama, the beautiful colors of ripe red chili peppers and earthy green cilantro with hints of black and white in this fabric look muy bonito!

FLOTUS looks fab but little miss Sasha just brings such joy to my heart, channeling Mom, indeed! I just love her pearl bracelet. Wonder if that is a silk flower? Heart warming, simply heart warming.

Friday, August 6, 2010 at 11:39 PM | Unregistered Commenterjuliede

Maison Martin Margiela sandals and Jean Paul Gaultier one-shoulder top (in another post) ... yay!!! I'm so excited to see Mrs. O in these edgier pieces than the usual designers she'd wear in the States, where the masses and media would give her a hard time for her "fashion risks." Happy to see that she's able to wear these French labels on vacation. Tres chic!

Friday, August 6, 2010 at 11:54 PM | Unregistered CommenterPipsqueak

I have to say, I'm not feeling the proportion on this outfit. Maybe if the leggings had reached her ankle? Or better yet, a black pencil skirt? Yes, black is hot in Europe but if you're going all over the place touring it's much easier to keep clean than white or lighter colors. And I'm probably going to get hated on but IMHO she could have used a tank top underneath the tunic.

What is it about Miss Sasha? When she is in the picture everyone else seems to fade into the background, even her momma! But doesn't the FLOTUS look proud of her?! They are going to have to keep an eye on this one - she is going places! What confidence and joy this child radiates!

Just an FYI, Mary Esse is claiming credit for a few other earring designs previously worn by Mrs. O in addition to the quartz and beryl ones worn at the NAACP convention: http://www.jckonline.com/blogs/style-360/2010/07/15/first-lady-michelle-obama-earrings-mary-esses

I'm not a great fan of patterns simply because I'm not very good at them. Mrs O looks cool in her summery top and leggings though, even if I don't like the print I like the cut of it....
